Spring
has sprung in south GA…although the weather is
still a little chilly on some days (like today). I have a love/hate relationship with
spring!!! I love the loveliness of
spring with all the flowers & budding trees, but oh how I HATE THE POLLEN!!!
Plus, I know that our spring
quickly turns into a very hot summer…and I hate HOT!!!
Spring
also brings with it a LOT of projects.
So here are some of the ones I’ve been tackling recently. The yard still has a way to go…pine straw for the flower
beds is next on the list. Probably ought
to transplant some more HOSTAs but OH MY GOSH…that’s a very difficult & tiring
job!!! Here are a few photos showing
what I’ve been up to….
LOTS OF
PAINTING! I love birdcages &
metal pieces for our yard and porch.
Also included were 2 glass-topped tables and 2 chairs for the deck. Thank goodness for SPRAY PAINT, but it’s
still not my favorite thing to do!
Another
“un”-favorite is CLEANING! Between the
winter weather and the spring pollen, there’s a lot of scrubbing going on☹
LOTS OF PLANTING GOING ON!😊 I love Gerber Daisies!
The HOSTAs are beginning to wake up and reach for the sun. I really need to transplant some, but it is
definitely one of the most difficult of garden chores…in my opinion! I like to put hostas in pots…I’ve had luck with that so
far.
We
have a large wrap-around porch on 3 sides of our house plus a medium-sized deck. I love to DECORATE them both. Got 2 cute bird pillows from Wal-Mart the
other day…$5 each. Got the 2 beautiful pillows on our swing last
year from Dollar General…$6 each. (I love a bargain!)
RED is definitely the color I go with for our deck.
The kitchen color scheme is yellow with red & blue accents, and we
have large windows that look right onto the deck and the backyard pond.
Love my Chicken Planter:)
And,
of course, a little EASTER decorating!
As
the cooler weather goes by the wayside, and the days of spring encourage us
more and more outside (once the pollen has gone!), hopefully my yard will show
the results of all my hard work. (Photos
from previous years!)
So…what have you been doing to WELCOME SPRING in your neck of the woods?
HAPPY SPRING !
Such cute decor!! I love all your flowers...I still have to wait a long time here until I plant so it is nice to enjoy yours!!! Hugs Annster's Domain
ReplyDeleteThe weather here has certainly been a roller coaster lately. One day the kids around here will be in shorts and swimsuits...the next back to their jackets:)
DeleteThose bird pillows were a great find! Wonder if they have them in my WalMart? It will be awhile before our weather will let me out to do all you are doing or show that much green. But it'll happen. Seeing your spray painting reminded me of how last summer I was so excited to spray a chair I forgot to lay down a drop cloth. I now have a permanent turquoise spot on the driveway. I suppose I could spray it gray but it's a good reminder not to be dumb again -- at least that way!
ReplyDeleteWe decked out our back porch and patio week before last. We have huge pots that hold our ferns and when our pansies die we'll plant some other blooming plants in the beds. All your hard work makes for a beautiful yard. We are so, so thankful for pretty spring days right now.
ReplyDeleteI hang 2 ferns on the front porch...used to do 4 but last year decided to reduce! Less watering:)
DeleteAmei a cadeira de balanço na varanda. Linda!
ReplyDeleteDepois de um trabalho duro virá a recompensa. Um belo jardim.

Thank you:)
DeleteWoah girl, you have been busy! I need to get outside too. It is still chilly here and with family members in the hospital, well I am a bit behind. My hubby has been doing some cleaning. I need new pillows for the back porch, perhaps I will try Walmart! Have a blessed and beautiful day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteOur Wal Mart had a whole big bin of $5 pillows, but the birds just spoke to me:)
DeleteOh Cheri, I hear you on the pollen and cleaning! I so hate it, it is definitely the worst part of spring. I'm a fall and winter person, but I love the flowers of spring and summer. Your previous flowers are gorgeous...that sweet potato vine is fabulous! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI used to love spring and summer but the older I've gotten the more I love the fall and winter. Plus I looks soooo much better in sweaters and boots:)
DeleteWhat a busy girl.... at least you know what you like and don’t like... It made me laugh...I think I will make a list for myself and hopefully will have as much fun as you
ReplyDelete( ha ha) ... I'm with you on the ' pollen' topic and spring cleaning ... however ... it seems to be winter cleaning here as we are experiencing another snow storm in April( Can you believe it? ) No matter ... surely Spring is just around the corner...I love your little wooden Easter bunny and chicken planters always steal my heart( so cute)... I must say that your pictures show off your garden beautifully ... I'm particularly fond of the coelius and potatoe plant contrast ... It's so vibrant ... So now you've inspired me to get working ... Thanks for sharing ... ENJOY your week-end ... and R-E-L-A-X ... Hugs
Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm off to check out your blog:)
DeleteCheri, you are a little bit of hop, skip and jump ahead of me on getting the yard out and the garden things up and painted. I however don't paint most of my things, I love the rust in the garden. However, I did clean out part of the flower bed and took the garden decor out of the shed. Started getting things together and it started to rain....oh well, "tomorrow is another day"! Did you catch that Georgia line from Gone with the Wind? haha. I am full of it tonight.
ReplyDeleteOh I definitely got it:) We Southerners are good about procrastinating...well some of us are:) I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I am not one who likes rust. I know many do though. Give me a can of spray paint and I can paint the world!!!
DeleteYour yard is beautiful and I love seeing all the plantings..gives me ideas for mine! I'm just going out for the first time in my planting beds this weekend. We had snow last week! My daffodils are up here and there and hopefully the snow is done for the year. No hostas have come up yet. We get Spring much later up here! My kids always warn folks not to stand too still at the Pines or I'll spray paint them! Ha! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteSadly my daffodils didn't bloom this year. Think it's time to replant them. I do love those bright yellow blooms!!!
DeleteNo spring here, yet, Cheri. I mean it's sunny today, but it's still around 30 or 40 degrees. Not a fan! Although, I'm not a fan of the pollen either, so I guess it's ok for a bit more. Your yard looks amazing. All those flowers and plants, I am jealous! We have to clean up our cushions this year, too. I keep them covered all summer and inside in the winter, but they still get icky!
ReplyDeleteCleaning off all that pollen is not my idea of fun, but seeing the fruits of my labor is always satisfying:)
