Writer's Block

I'm finding that the hardest thing about having your own blog is FINDING SOMETHING TO WRITE ABOUT!  Writer's Block has definitely set in.  It's been a quiet Sunday with hubby and I working in the yard a little after attending church and eating lunch at a local restaurant....chicken, fried okra, turnip greens, macaroni & cheese, and banana pudding (yummy)!  It was a beautiful sunny day with just a little chill in the air.  Hard to believe that just a couple of weeks ago there was snow everywhere.....definitely not a sight we see very often in south GA.  Our house (below) looked like a winter wonderland and the snowball fight with the grands was the most fun I've had in a while!  So....that takes care of all the small talk, now I'm back where I started from....with nothing to say that's worthwhile!

I've noticed that on some blogs the writer shares various labels telling who they are.  Thought I'd try that too.  So here goes!  I am:

COUNTING MY BLESSINGS

Sometimes it seems there's more BAD stuff out there than GOOD.  After mentioning my friend Shannon's accident yesterday, today another friend fell and broke her hip.  However, I'm not going to let myself forget that God is good and there are still plenty of wonderful things out there in this old world.  So....I'm going to spend a few moments counting my blessings:  my loving husband who is my best friend, my son and his family (my two grands), my extended family, the opportunity to have been an educator for over 35 years now, my home (that's paid for...no mortgage!!!), my church & church family, my friends, clothes in the closet & food on the table, more material blessings than I need or deserve, and above all my Lord who loves me (warts and all)!  To my friend JANE....I hope the pain will be minimal and that you will gather strength in knowing that you are loved by many and appreciated for all the wonderful qualities that make you YOU!

Note:  Be sure to check out the free give-away at BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH.  She's giving away your choice of a beautiful tassel from THE TASSEL HOUSE.  (Sorry, but sure hope I win.  I love that bunny tassle!)

MOPEY MONDAY

"Monday, Monday,so good to me"...or so goes the lyrics of the 60's song by The Mamas & the Papas.  Sadly, that's not how I'm feeling today!  My small town has seen more than it's share of sadness this winter, but I won't depress anyone with those details.  However, I do want to share that my friend SHANNON and her mother-in-law were involved in a terrible car crash this weekend in AL.  Although their injuries are not now life-threatening, they both suffered severe injuries and have had surgery.  Shannon teaches 2nd grade and just tickles me pink at times.  Please pray for her and her family and wish for a speedy recovery.  To Shannon....hurry and get well, girl.  And to my other friends and fellow educators who are also going through some difficult times, remember that God loves you and so do I!

C*H*E*R*I

I wanted to share why I chose to name my blog CHERI'S CHATTERAlthough my name is CHERYL (that's what my husband and friends call me), my lifelong nickname from the rest of my family has been CHERI.  When I was a little girl I was often called CHERI PIE or CHERI BLOSSOM.  Today I'm called CHERI by my two beautiful grandchildren as well as many of their friends and I love all things cherry.  So now you know the rest of the story!

NEW BEGINNINGS

I'm up & running!!!  This is my very first blog and I've been working on it for several days now.  I'm still not completely happy with everything but maybe I can work the kinks out as I go.  I have been following several blogs written by some great gals and I am just in awe of how unique and interesting each one is.  I must admit I'm somewhat intimidated but I won't know if I can do this if I don't at least give it a try.  I love to write and create and feel this will be a new adventure....and I do love adventures!

So...if you are reading this, please be patient with me and come back from time to time and check my progress.  Also, PLEASE feel free to share any suggestions, hints, or how-tos with me. I tend to just get on the computer and click until I figure things out...which is probably not the wisest way of doing things.  So....what do I do next?  Guess I'd better start clicking and see where it gets me!
