FIRST ADVENTURE OF 2021

If you keep up with my blog, you may have read my post about my WORD OF THE YEAR.  I chose the word....ADVENTURE.  It was probably not the best word because...1.  we are still in the midst of a pandemic....and....2.  we really aren't the adventurous type.  But after 2020 I was determined that the hubby and I should spend more time having some fun...traveling, doing unusual things, enjoying life more while our old bones are still able to move!

Well, we finally went on our first ADVENTURE of the year!  Today is the Mr.’s birthday so yesterday we took off for SAVANNAH.  He had some gift cards from BASS PRO SHOP burning a hole in his pocket, plus we got to stay free using some of the hotel points he had saved up during his years of traveling for business.

I love SAVANNAH!  However, I would not want to live there...too many people and too much traffic.  But wow!  Does it have the places to shop and to eat.  Also, some of the most beautiful architecture and beautiful streets lined with moss-draped trees.

We didn’t make it to downtown this trip but it’s fun to visit all the shops there.  My high school girlfriends and I have actually vacationed in SAVANNAH twice and had tons of fun!  The first time we actually (really...I’m telling the truth) danced in the streets!  It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had!

We ate hubby’s BIRTHDAY BREAKFAST at a small cafe called CLARY'S.  It’s sort of famous.  Part of the movie MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL was filmed there.  (I suggest you read the book, then watch the movie.)  The food is amazing, and the service was superb.  Our waitress was very tall and had the shortest haircut ever, but it looked great on her!

We did some shopping this trip, but the two malls were a big disappointment.  I don’t know what it is exactly, but the malls just aren’t what they used to be.  Some of the major retail stores have either gone out of business or the inventory is low and not appealing.  It seems years since I have found really cute clothes that I like!

We happened upon a really nice THRIFT SHOP that I enjoyed browsing in.  It had more high-end clothing and household items.  I bought a pair of pants and a top...without trying on so I hope they fit!  Since I like thrift shopping, we also stopped at a GOODWILL on our way out.  I found a SCRABBLE game that I have been searching and searching for!  I wanted the tiles for craft projects...paid $1.99!

After a 3 hour drive, we got home safely and SON & GRANDDAUGHTER came over with a birthday cake for Dad/Papa.

Now we are home sitting in our comfort zones in our warm pajamas...the weather decided to have another cold snap after much warmer weather the last several days.  I love a short getaway, but I’m always happy and thankful to be home.

Wonder what our next ADVENTURE will be...hope it’s sooner than later!

  1. That was my word a few years ago but I'm ready to get back at some get-a-ways! We need to wait until May for some nicer weather to go explore. I love thrift shopping too. I found a few fun things when I was at my sister's last week. We found some new places to explore. Have a good week Cheri and maybe even some adventures in your own back yard!

We usually stay close to River St. when we go and love to walk those cobblestone streets, going in and out of the shops and the candy factory:) Thanks for making me want to take a trip:) Enjoy your Sunday dear friend, HUGS!

  3. I love your attitude!!!!! Have some fun!!!!!!!!!

But I'd still be afraid to go to an amazing place like Savannah. But we are 83-87.

Saw the movie, never read the book. But we did enjoy the film. It certainly makes you want to go there!

    1. Yes, age certainly does slow us down...that's why I want to do more before we are much older. Hubby already has some struggle with walking for a long time. But do find ways to enjoy every minute:)

  4. Sounds like a perfect getaway! I would love to do that sometime. Wish I could talk my hubby into it. He's not much for shopping and stuff...but, well you never know. Looks like you picked a perfect time for it. The azaleas are amazing now!!

    1. Yes, Pam, the azaleas are beginning to strut their stuff:) I guess I'm lucky that my husband is a great people watcher. He will let me shop as long as I want and he sits in the mall or in the car or wherever he can watch the people!!! But maybe you can find something you two can enjoy together:)

  6. We went to Savannah a few years ago and while I did enjoy it, I didn't think it compared to Charleston. But, they are both full of history and gorgeous old homes. Can't wait to hear about your next adventure.

  8. Always heard that its a beautiful place and looking at pics I know I would love to visit. I also love following supernatural stuff and I have heard that is a ghostly place. As for thrift stores....LOVE! Hence between them and Goodwill I have a lot of stuff I prob did not need and now I am trying to clear out. haha....travel, I wished. I was suppose to go to Calif to visit my son in 2017 but I had surgery so I did not go. 2018 was there time to come out to TN but they had things going on and they were not coming. I was having son withdrawals so I decided to change my every other yr trip to the yr that was not my yr since I missed my yr..(did you get that?). Then in 2019, again they were not going to come but since my mom past in Jan. Cory came out for that. It had only been 6 months since my trip. I would have went out last yr but then I bought my moms home and COVID hit. With COVID so rapid in Calif there was NO way I was headed out there. Signed up for my shot so maybe this yr....but I have made up my mind that I need to do at least some day trips around the house or not far.

  10. I love Savannah ... Bonaventure Cemetery is one of my favorite haunts ... haaaaha! Also I love the squares, and yes I've read the book AND seen the movie, and taken pictures of the house. Savannah beats Charleston, in my opinion. Simply charming like no other place on earth. I have not been to Clary's but I love Pie Society! xoxo

  14. My name is Thomas White, from United states, i have been Herpes positive and it is just like been through hell; well special thanks to God almighty for using Dr Twaha, the greatest Herbal doctor in curing my herpes disease. I was diagnosed of this disease in the year 2004. Although I was taking my medications I was not myself. Until a few weeks ago. My friend came to me and told me that he saw many testimonies on how Dr. Twaha  cured people Herpes disease. Although I never believe in herbs, I said to myself "seeing is believing" I took his name and searched it on GOOGLE, I saw many testimonies myself. Quickly, I copied his email: drlregbeyen10000@gmail.com I emailed him, he gave me a form to fill which I did, then he sent me a message  and told me that he required some items in which he will use in preparing the cure for me and he told me that it will cost me some money which i sent to him because I need the cure urgent,  He bought the items and prepared a cure for me, then he sent the parcel to me through courier delivery service. I paid the courier services, I got my parcel, it was a bottle of ointment as described by Dr,Twaha After taking the ointment he told me to do, the herpes test and the result came out negative. Quickly I messaged him and told him what happened he congratulated me. I promised to tell the world about him. You can contact him with any problem  via email: ( drlregbeyen10000@gmail.com ) or contact him on WhatsApp +2349038518881 thank you Dr Twaha
